EXPOSE: Set of several rusticos in Baiardo in the hinterland of
Apricale and Dolceacqua, Ventimiglia and Bordighera |
Baiardo is a village with about 350
inhabitants and is located in the Ligurian Maritime Alps at
900 m over sea level, and spreads over 24.000 hectares, most of which are
covered by olive groves. The remaining area is fallow ground, on a part of
which flowers are now grown, and then vineyards, chestnut trees and woods. A
vast pine-wood in the Armea valley is recognised as a biotope.
The historical village core, that was abandoned by the population after the
Second World War, has now been beautifully restored. Baiardo was
founded in the first millennium b.C. and has maintained up to the
present day its typical Ligurian country architecture.
It’s a great place to relax, unwind, think, read, write,
paint… be what you choose at the pace you choose. If you want to be alone,
perfect. If not, the people of the village are open and will talk to you for
hours. Alternatively if you prefer to be busy there are plenty of cobbled
streets to explore or hikes and trails into the mountains. It is also just
as easy to pull up a chair out on the terrace and wait for the sun to set
over the mountains. |

Four cottages in stone of approx.
80 sqm, 70 sqm and 150 sqm and 100 sqm
with surrounding land of up to 10.000 sqm
– close to the medieval town of Baiardo – with panoramic views of
the Maritime Alps.
These old stone houses date back to the 18th century, as can be seen from
the gnarled old mulberry tree standing next to the house, which originates
from the time when Napoleon issued a decree stating that these trees should
be planted next to all houses sited on public footpaths.
The houses have been abandoned for many
years, but once restored, would form a charming farmhouse with annexes, set
in the midst of breathtaking scenery, with a beautiful stream alongside. |

The building index could also be used to
extend the property, if required, while the large, flat terraces are perfect
for a pool and lawns.
The property is situated 2,5 km outside the medieval town of Baiardo, which
although small, buzzes with life, especially at Massimo’s popular
restaurant, a place beloved of tourists and locals alike. The houses are
easily reached with a short private road.
The coast and the city of Sanremo are just 45 min away, and Nice
International Airport is just a 90-minute drive. |
